The goal of the VIKINGS Volleyball club is to have athletes of all skill sets engaged in this fantastic game. If you are only interested in House League play, or if tryouts did not go as you had planned, this is a great way to stay in the game. House League will provide you with an opportunity to practice your skills in a fun and engaging game environment. The program is co-ed and athletes of all skill sets are encouraged to participate. Experienced coaches will provide you with tips and techniques to allow you to better your game!!
This program is intended for the athlete who has had some exposure to the game. Ideally they have participated in a SPIKES development program or have played a little at school. The weekly format will be as follows :
- Athletes arrive in gym, grab a ball and practice skills in a controlled manner for a brief period until we start group dynamic stretching.
- We will work on individual skills and drills and partner work for 30-45min. During this time we will focus on proper ball handling techniques and refresh their knowledge of the terms used in playing the game.
- We will then move on to focusing on positions on the court and basic rotations. There will not be set teams. Depending upon the athletes present, we will create new teams every week to ensure that the games are fair and enjoyable.
- Parents are welcome to stay and watch the entire session or come back and watch the progress toward the end of each class
HOUSE LEAGUE programs run at L'Heritage HS in Cornwall. The cost is $125 per athlete (includes a a t-shirt) and each class is1.5 hours in length. Participants are expected to wear comfortable clothing such as shorts and t-shirts (no tight tank tops), clean running or court shoes, and knee pads if you have them.
